In a fast-paced world of South African music industry, getting financial support and help can

greatly influence the futures of up-and-coming musicians and event organizers.

Recognizing this requirement South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA)

has established the SAMPRA development fund to support local talent, promote cultural

diversity and create a sustainable entertainment industry for the present and the future.

The criterion of accessing this fund differs, music production, travel and touring are the only

eligible to access this product who have earned R3000 in a needle time Right and Royalties.

“The funding aims to promote and groom the talent of up-and-coming artist and event

organizers,” said the PR and Marketing officer Yvette Rammalo.

The Fund offers custom financial assistance to musicians and event planners. There are various

opportunities for financial aid, ranging from Music Production to Cultural Organizations and Live

Events. Moreover, the fund functions according to specific guidelines, such as setting a cap on

funding amounts and ensuring that it does not exceed half of a project or events overall budget.

Approved projects have specific goals and duties outlined in their proposals. These include

hosting planned events and meeting public relations and marketing requirements to raise

visibility for the SAMPRA Development Fund. Moreover, funded projects offer networking

opportunities, enabling participants to connect with industry professionals and explore potential

collaborations.

Financial support durations may vary depending on project or event timelines. Accepted

recipients will receive contracts and must fulfill their commitments within the designated time

frame. The program may collaborate with external partners on projects that enhance member

benefits, fostering additional opportunities for networking and professional growth.

All applicants can easily apply via the SAMPRA portal which is accessible via the link samprafund.co.za
